OK, I'm new here and not a mechanic. I tinker a little.
Anyway, I just bought a 88 YJ from a guy who had rebuilt a 4.2 and put in it. He removed all the emissions stuff but it still has the original carb and with a choke conversion kit that just isn't working out. He gave me an offenhauser intake manifold and hedman headers with it. So I'm wanting to buy a new carb and put the new manifold and headers on at the same time. I want to spend as little as possible but still get something good. So any suggestions on a carb would greatly be appreciated. I guess I'm looking for something with electric choke without feedback from what I've read. Thanks. |

Do a 4.0 head/intake/fuel injection swap and trash the old carb. Thats better money spent than upgrading the stuff you have now and you get to learn something in the process . PM Neil(KirkCameronYJ) he just did it on his 88 YJ and it turned out great.

| Well I already have a brand new intake manifold that the guy gave me with the Jeep, so I really only need to buy a carb. So I'm thinking thats the cheaper way to go for now, as money is an issue. |

Fair enough. Just keep on the look out for an old Cherokee with a fuel injected 4.0 for your donor parts. You can find them pretty cheap.

I'd look for a motorcraft 2100 2bl., thats what I ran on mine before I swapped engines. You can find them for cheap since they came on lots of fords and amc's. You want the one that has the smaller venturies. It will have the 1.08 stamped right under the linkage. Cheap and easy to rebuild too.
What intake do you have?

I have an offenhauser intake, don't remember the model right off the top of my head though.
I appreciate the advice and input. It helps me out alot. Like I said, I'm learning as I go. |
